Sr. Editor. Recientemente se ha publicado el artículo “Niveles de hemoglobina y anemia en gestantes adolescentes atendidas en establecimientos del Ministerio de Salud del Perú, 2009-2012” (1). Los resultados muestran que la tasa de anemia en zonas menores a 1000 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar es de 20,7%, sin embargo, los valores en las zonas altoandinas son casi el doble, llegando a 45,6% en Puno, por citar un ejemplo. Los autores refieren que estos resultados son contradictorios, habida cuenta que en base a una previa publicación hay un alto porcentaje de cumplimiento a la suplementación con hierro en las mismas zonas altoandinas (2).
